CAP 2023-2027

A few months before the implementation of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), many and important open questions remain regarding what form the implementation of this most important policy for our country will take from 2023 onwards.

On the one hand, little information has been made public about the national options included in the strategic plan. On the other hand, based on the foreseen procedure, the choices of the Member States will be put under the strict judgment of the European Commission in order to meet the high environmental ambitions of the European Green Deal.

In this uncertain landscape, the publication of GAIA EPICHEIREIN “The Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 | Funding, objectives, interventions and recommendations for the national strategic plan“, attempts to present in a concise and comprehensible way the rich toolbox of the CAP 2023-2027, based on certain indisputable facts, which arise from the European financial and regulatory framework, and proceeding in comparisons with the CAP 2014-2020, in order to perceive the differences and innovative elements.

The purpose of this publication is to inform the rural world and all interested stakeholders in relation to the “philosophy”, the objectives and the support possibilities provided by the new CAP in their full development, but also in terms of the differences it presents in comparison with CAP 2014-2020.

Many thanks to Paolo De Castro, Pierre Bascou, Christiane Lambert, Ramon Armengol and Yves Madre, prominent representatives of European institutions, agricultural and cooperative bodies and think tanks, for their valuable input with original opinion articles drafted for inclusion in this edition, shedding light on important aspects of the new CAP.
